The Unbearable Business of Wellness
Don't mistake my kindness for weakness. The Bhagavad Gita is set on a battlefield.
This week’s installment of White Men Wasting My Time finds me punished, once again, for my empathy. Richard…we’ll call him Dick…approaches me in December regarding partnership in a wellness venture on Nantucket. He’s interested in repurposing his properties as a retreat to lure a different demographic to the island. I have no desire to reenter the unbearable business of wellness, particularly for a student body composed entirely of the 1% in their private playground, but I take the meeting for the plot. Perhaps, like Buddha and Ashoka, I can influence those with influence toward self actualization for the benefit of all mankind. Unlikely, but I welcome a challenge.
